Logitech Unifying Software lets you connect up to six compatible Logitech wireless mice and keyboards to a single USB receiver. This guide covers how to download and set it up on Windows 10 and 11, what devices it supports, and how to fix the most common problems.

What is Logitech Unifying Software?
Logitech Unifying Software is a free utility from Logitech that manages devices connected to a Unifying receiver, the small orange-starred USB dongle included with many Logitech wireless mice and keyboards. Instead of using a separate receiver for each device, you can pair up to six Unifying-compatible devices to a single receiver. This frees up USB ports on your PC. The software also handles re-pairing devices if they lose their connection and can reassign devices to a different receiver if needed. It’s a simple tool: it doesn’t run persistently in the background during normal use, you only need it for setup and re-pairing tasks.
Can you use Logitech Unifying Software on PC?
Yes. It’s a Windows application compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11. It’s also available for macOS. The software is maintained by Logitech and available directly from their support website. Note that in recent years Logitech has also released Logi Bolt, a newer wireless protocol that uses a separate receiver (blue, not orange) and its own software. If your device came with a Bolt receiver rather than a Unifying receiver, you need the Logi Bolt software, not this one. Check the receiver: the Unifying receiver has an orange star logo, Bolt receivers don’t.
How to download and install Logitech Unifying Software on Windows
Option 1: Download from Logitech’s website
- Go to support.logi.com and search for “Unifying Software.”
- Select your operating system (Windows) and download the installer.
- Run the downloaded .exe file. The installer is small and completes in under a minute.
- Launch “Logitech Unifying Software” from the Start menu after installation.
- Plug the Unifying receiver into a USB port on your PC.
- Click “Advanced” in the software to see currently paired devices, or click the “+” button to pair a new device. Follow the on-screen prompts, you’ll need to turn the device off and back on during pairing.
Option 2: Download via Logitech Options+ or G HUB
- If you have a newer Logitech mouse or keyboard, it may have come with Logitech Options+ or G HUB instead.
- Download your software suite from logitech.com/software.
- Logitech Options+ includes Unifying device management within its interface, you may not need the standalone Unifying Software if you’re already using Options+.
- G HUB is for gaming peripherals and handles Unifying devices separately from the main Unifying Software tool.
Key features
- Multi-device receiver pairing: Connect up to 6 Logitech Unifying devices to a single USB nano-receiver, reducing USB port usage from six to one.
- Device management panel: View all devices paired to your receiver, their battery level, and connection status from one interface.
- Re-pairing support: If a device loses its pairing (after a factory reset or battery removal in some cases), Unifying Software lets you re-pair it without replacing anything.
- Receiver switching: Move a device from one Unifying receiver to another using the “Advanced” menu, useful when switching between a desktop and a laptop setup.
- Minimal footprint: The software only needs to run when you’re managing pairings. It doesn’t need to run in the background for your devices to work once paired.

Common issues and fixes
Device not detected by Unifying Software
Make sure the device has batteries installed and is turned on. Toggle the power switch on the device off and back on during the pairing process. If the software shows “No receiver connected,” try a different USB port, USB hubs sometimes cause issues with the receiver. Also close and reopen the Unifying Software after plugging in the receiver.
Already at 6 devices, can’t add more
The Unifying receiver has a hard limit of 6 devices. To add a new device, you need to unpair one of the existing ones first. Go to Advanced, select the device you want to remove, and delete it. Then add the new device in its place.
Mouse or keyboard disconnects intermittently
This usually points to USB power management turning off the receiver. Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers, find the USB Root Hub entries, right-click each, go to Properties > Power Management, and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” Also try moving the receiver to a USB port directly on the PC rather than on a hub or monitor.
Logitech Unifying Software won’t install on Windows 11
Make sure you’re downloading the latest version from Logitech’s support site. Older versions have known compatibility issues with Windows 11. If the installer still fails, try right-clicking it and choosing “Run as administrator.” Some antivirus programs block the installer, temporarily disable real-time protection during install if needed.
Alternatives to Logitech Unifying Software
Logitech Options+ is Logitech’s newer software for non-gaming mice and keyboards. For devices that support it, Options+ provides button customization and flow (multi-computer control) features that Unifying Software doesn’t have. Solaar is a Linux-only open-source alternative to Unifying Software, not relevant for Windows users but worth knowing exists. If you use Logitech gaming devices, G HUB handles device management and RGB customization. For non-Logitech wireless receivers, each manufacturer has its own software, there’s no cross-brand equivalent to Unifying. FAQ
Is Logitech Unifying Software free?
Yes. It’s a free utility provided by Logitech. No account or subscription is required to use it.
How do I know if my Logitech device is Unifying-compatible?
Look for an orange star logo on the device or its receiver. Unifying-compatible products also list it in their specifications on Logitech’s product pages. Newer Logitech devices may use Logi Bolt instead, that’s the blue-starred receiver and uses separate software.
Can I pair a Unifying device without the software?
If you’re pairing a new device to a receiver it hasn’t been paired with before, you need the software. If the device came pre-paired to the receiver it ships with, it works immediately without installing anything, plug in the receiver and the device connects automatically.
What happens if I lose my Unifying receiver?
You can buy a replacement Unifying receiver from Logitech (model C-U0007). Use the Unifying Software to pair your existing devices to the new receiver.
Can I use one Unifying receiver for a mouse and keyboard from different Logitech lines?
Yes, as long as both devices have the orange Unifying star logo. You can mix and match any Unifying-compatible Logitech mice and keyboards on the same receiver, regardless of product line.
Does Unifying Software need to stay running in the background?
No. Once devices are paired, the receiver handles the connection automatically. The software only needs to be open when you’re adding, removing, or re-pairing devices.
Logitech Unifying Software is one of those tools you install once, use for setup, and forget about. Once your devices are paired to the receiver, it just works.
